Verify System Requirements

Ensure you have what it takes to successfully run AssetTrack.

AssetTrack can operate:

  1. In a single-server configuration with IIS and SQL Server on the same machine
  2. On a multi-server configuration with IIS and SQL Server on separate machines
  3. In an IIS or SQL Server clustered configuration
  4. On virtual servers, in a virtual server environment

  Database Server Requirements

Processor: 

  • Minimum: 2 CPU core of any processor required for Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Recommended: 4 CPU cores

Memory:

  • Baseline: 16GB RAM
  • Per 100,000 assets, increase memory by 1GB. 

Diskspace: 

  • Data file: 20GB 
  • Log file: 10GB 
  • Backups (30-day): 80GB

Operating System:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2
  • All critical updates recommended

Software:

Standard or Enterprise editions SQL Server:

  • SQL Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2014

Note: Only the SQL Server core database engine is required.

SQL Server Settings:

  • Collation: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AI 
  • Security mode: Mixed

  Application Server Requirements

Processor

  • Minimum: 2 CPU core of any processor required for Windows Server 2012 R2
  • Recommended: 4 CPU cores

Memory

  • Baseline: 16GB RAM
  • Per 100,000 assets, increase memory by 2GB

Disk Space

  • 10GB of available hard disk space

Operating System

  • Windows Server 2012 R2

Note: We recommend you to perform all critical updates.

Software

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 - 8.5
  • Microsoft .NET 3.5 (Server Feature)
  • Application Development - All 11 roles (IIS role service)
  • Windows Security - Windows Authentication (IIS role service)*
  • Performance - Static and Dynamic (IIS role service)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (Required only to install the API server for use with iOS/Android/Blackberry/Windows Phone)
  • Visual Studio 2012 Runtime redistributable.  Run both the x86 and x64 versions of this redistributable.
  • Visual Studio 2013 C++ Runtime redistributable.  Run both the x86 and x64 versions of this redistributable.
  • Optional: SSL certificate. We recommend using a certificate signed by a root certificate authority (e.g. Verisign, Thawte). Mobile devices sometimes have issues with self-signed or certificates from unknown certificate authorities.

*Only needed if using Windows security over AssetTrack security.

 Mobile Device Requirements

Each model comes with configuration options (imager/laser, keyboard, cellular/wifi radios), affecting capabilities and price. 

Supported Smartphones

▶ iOS

AssetTrack is available for free from the App Store, and supports any device running the current or most previous version of iOS.

▶ Android

AssetTrack is available from the Google Play store and supports all Android devices running Kitkat or later operating system.

Supported Rugged Scanning Devices

▶ Zebra (formerly Motorola)

Zebra TC70/75  Zebra's first ruggedized, barcode-enabled Android based device. Recommended for high volume scanning and fully compatible with AssetTrack 4. See more on Zebra's website.

Zebra MC40  Runs Android, equipped with either: imager or laser.

RFID Readers

Zebra RFD8500  Zebra's Bluetooth passive RFID reader that pairs with your smartphone.

TSL 1128  TSL's Bluetooth passive RFID reader that pairs with your smartphone.

USB Tethered Scanners: AssetTrack also works with any USB or Bluetooth tethered barcode scanner which can be paired with a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop running AssetTrack.  Common devices we recommend include:
